I left light-contact karate and took up judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and other fighting arts. This is my martial arts notebook.

TEDxToronto- Dave Meslin - Redefining Apathy

“As long as we believe that people, our own neighbors, are selfish, stupid, or lazy, then there’s no hope. But we can change all those things.”

Point #4 about Heroes, at 4:30 in the vid, resonates with me very strongly. Things are in the way, but making the choice within oneself, and trusting in one’s own ability to get things done without being asked or told or invited.

Nobody asks us to get good at anything. I’ve found mostly the opposite: many around us are happier if we stay the way we are.

My love for fiction has been tempered by the bad taste in my mouth when I realize I’m reading or watching one of these Chosen Hero tales.
